    Paving up to house

Looking to re-pave the garden in the coming months. Is it a good idea to put a gravel boarder between the house and the first line of slabs to aid drainage? Or should I pave up to the property and angle away?

    Damp coming from window?

Thanks for the responses. The area doesn't get driven rain but, as mentioned previously, it gets very little light and heat as it's the north facing side of the house. The brickwork out front looks fine. I think the likelihood is the bay frame. The windows on the front haven't been well...

    Damp coming from window?

Hi We've noticed a damp spot that appears to be coming out from where our windows sit. The front side of the house, where this window and room sits, get no sunlight so in general it feels quite damp anyway. Any ideas on how to prevent this? The windows to the house are old and were installed...

    Bottom bricks damp?

Hello Is this cause for concern? The bottom few bricks around my property look wet and I can't see your standard blue bricks either, although they may only be installed on newer homes. In the next year I'll be looking to replace the front garden with a driveway and I'm unsure where the damp...

    Replace insulation?

Hello I’m looking to board my loft and whilst clearing what’s currently there, I noticed some old and compacted insulation. Does this need replacing? Or will it do a job if I add additional insulation on top? It’s around 80mm in depth.

    Water Pooling At Front Door

Hi all I'm getting puddles outside my front door when it rains. Is the best solution here to lift the paving slabs and angle away from the house? Thanks

    Japanese Knotweed

Thanks all. I had someone local do a free inspection. Essentially he said to wait a little longer to see what follows. I'd manage to get a small bit of the root away which was white in the centre. The guy said that if it was knotweed then that should have been bright orange. So I guess it's...

Pressure dropping as heating switched on

Thanks. Any idea why the pressure continues to drop when the heating is switched on? Currently its shot up to about 3 bars but when turned off will drop back to 1.5. And then overnight will continue to fall once again.

Pressure dropping as heating switched on

Hi all Having a few issues with the boiler. The pressure drops as soon as the heating is switched on (see video). I’ve checked for leaks and can’t spot anything. There are no damp or wet patches on ceilings and I’ve ran some leak sealer through the system too. I’m topping the system up...

Water dripping from soffit or fascia

Thanks - why would the water run down the facia? What's the best solution here? Am I likely to see a leak in the house as a result?

Water dripping from soffit or fascia

Possibly with the guttering but there's water dropping from the fascia/soffit that's concerning me.

Water dripping from soffit or fascia

Hello In the video linked below, there seems to be water dripping from either the fascia or soffit (sorry I'm unsure which is which) as well as the guttering. Any ideas of why this is happening? How to fix it? And how urgent it is...

    Hole In Brickwork Around Window

Thanks - I think we're about one piece short above the window so will look to get that sorted. Long term, am I looking at replacing the bricks entirely?
