Yes, another Mould behind the wardrobe question:-/

Well I think I'm going to replace the wardrobe backs, clean up and insulate the wall with radiator reflecting material. Will also get some wardrobe heaters for the void. Does anyone know how much 25 Watts costs to run? Thanks for all your help.

Yes, another Mould behind the wardrobe question:-/

Well I've still done nothing and the mouldy smell is back and now need to resolve before decorating. Does anyone know if removing the backs of the wardrobes would be beneficial in the short term? I'm considering hacking the existing plaster off the brick (solid wall) and dry lining with a...

Yes, another Mould behind the wardrobe question:-/

Hi Wanted to run an idea past a few of you. I have a carcass type wardrobe against an external wall and have damp/mildew/mould issues as there is little airflow behind it. It's up to the ceiling and a good 3 mtrs wide. My idea (having spent most of the day cleaning up behind it today) is to...

Double Glazing the existing front door

Hi all We have a hardwood front door with lots of glass, and is the weak point in the house for heat loss but it's mainly noise from the main road that I want to suppress. I have 2 options, the first is to replace the front door but I'm wondering if it's possible to replace the existing (very...

    Towel Radiator alternative

I did think of putting a few side by side, but even then, the output will still be quite low. I've seen some old fashioned type radiators that have a towel rail built in but they are of an old fashioned style. I would prefer something modern. Hole in the market or a niche? Thanks for the...

    Mounting wall cabinets.......again!!!

Hi all. Have searched and read but can't find a satisfactory answer on what the best way to secure kitchen wall cabinets is. I have Ikea cabinets that have 2 angles per cabinet with a serrated mounting plate that allows for adjustment. Each plate is secured with 2 1/4" stubby chipboard...

    Towel Radiator alternative

Well that's the way I'm thinking at the mo. Could always get a hanger for the towels over the rad (no airing cupboard). Might not look as good but come winter (and new born!!!!) I think I might regret not putting in a rad.

    Towel Radiator alternative

    Towel Radiator alternative

Thanks for the reply but that's the point. I only have 700mm of height to play with. Not sure what the heat loss is but the room is only 4 sq mtrs with 2 insulated outside walls and a large window. Cheers rcs

    Towel Radiator alternative

Hi Does anyone know of a towel radiator that gives off a decent amount of heat but will fit under a window? The size would be limited to 700mm high but length is upto about 1500mm. I'm still considering just putting a normal rad there as having a warm bathroom would be more important than...

Hi What is the best way to cut a hole in a SS sink for the tap? I've seen hole cutters which use a shear action and a through bolt but don't know what they're called. Many Thanks rcs

    Plug socket screws

Thanks for the replies. I got a couple of M3.5mm screws that did the job. The boxes were set to the correct depth for drywall but with the 50mm of thermaboard, adjusted to correct an out of plumb wall by the plasterer, they look like they're buried! I thought about using dryliner boxes but...

    Stair Lights

I'm at the planning stage at the moment so I'm figuring 20-25 watt Low Voltage Halogen. I think the stringer is the side of the stair isn't it? If so, that's where I'd be putting them, not in the riser. I've thought about putting them in the wall above the stringers, but don't know if the...

    Stair Lights

Hi Does anyone know where stair lights are actually fitted? I've got Thermaboard drylining (polystyrene backed plasterboard) but we want stair lights so I guess I have 2 options......the first being to cut out the wood in the stair side kick board and the second is to chase out the...
