    New Boiler

Thanks for your responses. I will get some quotes for the Vaillant Ecotec Plus 937. as it would seem wise to be able to have hot water at 2 locations at once (second bathroom not installed yet) although i will probably have to locate the boiler in an alternative position. As for the touchy...

    Window tinting

There are lots of reflective films available designed to restrict light transmittance, but not specifically for privacy as they generally only work if the room your viewing from is darker than the room you viewing otherwise they will work in reverse if that makes sense.

Internal marks in double glazed units.

You are right all down to quality control. Units are mechanically cleaned and dryed prior to fabrication there should be no marks and definately no fluff. Coted glass does have a slight tint but this has nothing to do with your problem.

The optimal air space is 16mm for insulated glass units. One pane of glass should at least be Pilkington K but much better than this would be Pilkington Optitherm SN.

    82mm soil pipe

The joist is 175mm x 50mm and will be supported with 6mm thick stainless steel plates approx 450mm long clamped either side with m6 bolts, i am hoping this will be adequate to support the joist. Is there asn issue with using 82mm pipe for a short length and then connecting wto 110mm.
