Exposed shower valve - 22mm inlets?

Resurrecting this one and hopefully you are still online. I have the exact same Bristan Pisa shower, in fact two of them. Both are slowing down so much now I think it will be easier to simply teke them off and replace them with those Wayfair ones, which they still do. Q: Was it really a simply...

    My Oil Boiler is Haunted

Cheers Terrywookfit, oilboffin and gigz. The valve is not hotter than the other two, in fact at the moment full flow its cold as a cucumber. Unfortunately the multimeter is beyond me...

    My Oil Boiler is Haunted

Help, my oil boiler has taken leave of its senses and is running amok. I think its having a dicky fit as a reaction to Trump becoming president and the Brexit vote....Or its haunted. The programmer is off and the boiler is kicking in. Turn the boiler off at the mains and the pumps will run...

    Changing CH Pressure Gauge

Hi All I have to change the 4bar pressure gauge on the oil boiler. Thing is the house has 26 radiators and I really don't want to empty the whole system. I don't mind water spillage as its in the boiler room. Can I just de-pressurize the system and do a quick change ? Thanks in advance.

    Thermostatic bar mixer pressure issues

Right. After the responses here, and lots of hours investigating I have come up with a solution...Of sorts. In the room above the shower "was" a kitchen which is also going to be made into a shower room. So I can drop the cold water feed from there down through the ceiling, which I am 99%...

    Thermostatic bar mixer pressure issues

Unfortunately its an old house, three storeys high, and the shower is ground floor and farthest from the tank. It couldn't get further away if it tried. At the end of the day its only for a mud room and for showering dogs, wellies etc, so doesn't need to be perfect. I think warm when needed...

    Thermostatic bar mixer pressure issues

Cheers John. Can I replace it with a manual shower mixer do you think ?

    Thermostatic bar mixer pressure issues

Hi All I bought a Thermostatic Bar Shower Mixer and fitted fine. Last night my wife came running in saying she can hear water running quite loud and fast from the shower. Basically. If I turn on the left side the shower runs really fast, turn on the right and it goes to a trickle. But here...

    Reducing Radiator Valves

Update: It turns out it wasn't 22mm, more 3/4". Anyway, a 3/4" to 15mm reducer sorted it out and the rad is happily in place. Thanks to all.

    Reducing Radiator Valves

Cheers Dan, I'll go with the first one as its cheaper. I am doing the renovation on a tight budget and the rad only cost me £15 off Ebay so £58 on two valves would kind of blow the savings out of the water. I take it when you say "just use a 15mm compression coupling to go up inside the valve...

    Reducing Radiator Valves

I have bought a lovely old towel radiator which unfortunately has 3/4 valves, these ones in fact: http://www.plumbers-mate-sales.co.uk/pegler-belmont-97-angled-wheel-head-34-radiator-valve---07001430-1893-p.asp I want to connect this to 15mm pipe or i"if I must" replace the valves with...

Do you check your invoices ?

Having recently setup an account with Jewsons locally I was happily adding stuff to the account willy nilly. Invoices started to come in, then upon inspection I found 4 out of 10 invoices had anomalies. The most glaring £30 Chrome plated copper pipe instead of £5 standard copper, £11...

Traffic noise reduction - which type of fence?

Cheers Eggs, as I thought and agree. To challenge the Env is a Judicial Review and to challenge the quarry is a Section 82, both rather time consuming and very costly but looking like this is the only option. The limit btw is 55Db, so 70Db is rather a lot over. B

Traffic noise reduction - which type of fence?

Tapping onto the back of this one as its relevant and the OP seems to have found a "kind of" solution. We live next to a quarry, and when I say next to, I can pee over our back fence into the quarry. To say its noisy is an understatement as it sounds like the crusher is in our back garden...

    False Ceiling

Hi I have to put in two false ceilings in two tall rooms lowering them from about 3 metres high to 2.4. They both have a flat roof above which is insulated and not traffic above. I don't want to go metal so I thought simply putting in joist brackets at 600mm centres, 4x2 joists and 12mm...

    Enclosing oil fired boiler

Cheers Tipper. The boiler is staying where it is and just being boxed in. The extension is purely an extension to living space in the kitchen.

    Enclosing oil fired boiler

Right. I have a gert oil fired boiler in my kitchen and am planning a kitchen extension and total revamp. It s floor standing and far to big to sit in any cabinet so I am going to have to build a small boiler cupboard/room around it. Flue going out and has air system coming in directly. Is...
