Blown PCB - Ideal ICOS M3080 - am i being fleeced?

Could someone let me know if £700 for a total replacement of the PCB on the above boiler model (including a £60 +vat callout charge) sounds reasonable? It just sounds like a lot of money. Before tax and callout its £533.

    Slurry and slabs?

When putting cement slurry onto a slab/concrete surface should it be left to dry before laying the slabs or must it be wet?

    Neat cement slurry

I put a patio down a few years ago. It was directly onto concrete. I used a 3:1 wet mix. Once it had dried some of the slabs started to come up. Then some more. I reckon about half in the end. Due to other projects and the fact it annoyed me only now am i thinking of giving it another go. I hear...

    Tips for unpasted lining paper

Cos I'm a rubbish wallpaperer I got a more experienced person in to do my hall and landing. They're not professional and quite proud of what they've done. However, now they've finished there's a few edges that seem not to have been fully pasted down and have come away from the wall. They're very...

Best way to prep for glossing woodwork?

I am due to gloss skirtings etc. However they are not in the best of condition. They have been chipped and I'm concerned that just sanding and painting over will still show up the different levels of paint on the woodwork. Any tips, other than stripping back the skirtings completely please? :)

    Plastered wall - Finishing Touches?

Hi I've plastered a small wall (as much as I'm able to do with out pulling my hair out) and I've sanded it down. The wall is due to be papered (lining) but I would love to hear the best tips for finishing the wall off, i.e. a coat of paint first, with PVA?

    Odourless Gloss?!

My wife is currently pregnant and I thought, right buy some of this odorless stuff to make my life easier in certain regards (if you know what i mean). Well, the 'odorless' part works fine (in comparison) but I'm not that impressed with the quality if the paint. I've painted a few choice...

    Stripping woodwork - Banisters

I have stripped the layers of gloss off with a heat gun and then sanded (lightly) and then nitro-morsed it. My concern is that the wood still holds a fine white shade in areas, even after a further sanding. Any tips? It is going to be oiled/varnished (yet to decide) and I'm now considering a...

    Lining paper - iffy walls

I have just stripped hall&landing of some lovely textured wallpaper. It was obviously there for some time. Much to my surprise the walls were not as bad as I expected. However, I've not had much experience with lining paper and the walls aren't perfect. I've purchased some 1000 weight rolls in...
