Bit of advice for plumbing my extension please

Hi guys, I'm thinking of doing the plumbing for the radiators in my 2 storey extension but need a bit of advice. I intend to run the main supply and return under the screed in 22mm and feed off to the rads (4 in total) with 15mm. To avoid running the main supply and return right around the...

Cracks in wall directly below where a support beam is rested

You could insist he pays for indemnity insurance which will cover you if the cracks get worse. I wouldn't walk away over something like this, it's not the end of the world to put right and may just be the result of settling. Ask your solicitor about indemnity insurance.

    12x2 floor joist span.

Hi guys, I'm moving soon and we are going to convert the loft as soon as we are in. It has a nice high pitch so we could get away with 12 x 2 joists for the floor. I'm hoping we can get away with 1 rsj for the floor and 1 for the ridge but can't find anywhere the maximum span for 12x2's. I...

    Raising padstones to RSJ advice

Yeah, there was some dpc on the underside of the joists, I tool this as a means to prevent moisture from the wall rotting the joists but it may have had a deadening effect. I may put some dpc back on the joists. Thanks again

    Raising padstones to RSJ advice

Hi pred, thanks for the advice. One side this will be fine as I can access both sides, the other end is going into the cavity wall at 90 degrees so I can't get wedges to the other side. Maybe I'll be able it'll work from the one side? The beam will support the ceiling joists for the 1st...

Product to bond timber batons to my concrete walls?

Personally I'd have to have a few screws and plugs in if your hanging stuff from the batts. I love a bit or gripfill but can't bring myself to trust it to that extent.

    Is quarter bond blockwork acceptable?

Thanks for the replies guys. Woody, I wouldn't dream of using it in the little blockwork I do. It was merely a curiosity. :D

    Square or taper-edge plasterboard

If your studwork is 400 or 600 centers then you should only have to use them the "correct way up" with the tapers on the side, unless your wall is over 2.4m. Its easier to plaster over square edge board so go for that. :)

    Square or taper-edge plasterboard

Square edge for plastering buddy, Tapered is for dry lining as matey says.

Hi guys, I'm building an extension and am approaching the top of the blockwork. The bifold doors the client has ordered are a bit bigger than originally expected and it looks like we'll have to have 2 courses of bricks on top instead of the expected 3 and a split level of blocks across the...

Please help, do I really need planning permission?

[/url] thanks for the link, I'll check it out The ceiling height is about 400mm higher than the top of the windows so the only way to maintain the same ceiling height in the extension is to have higher eaves our eaves come down lower than the ones in the pic

Please help, do I really need planning permission?

Currently our eaves go right down to the top of the window frame so the extension flat roof joins into the pitch and the eaves are like a normal flat roof about 3-4 courses up
