Nige, you are probably correct in that it looks like the largest former with it is 3/8" ish.It is stamped A4.Anybody know how to post pictures.

Why not just replace the bearings?.If I am correct they will be fully shielded and probably cost no more than about £3.00 in vat each.

Nothing to stop you having a dialup at one property and a broadband connection at the other.Just use the modem for dialup and either a usb or ethernet connection at the other. Or have I missed the point somewhere.
