Woke up to banging kettling bolier...

So.... Woke up in the early hours to the sound of loud-banging from the bolier... Checked the control panel, and there was neither demand for hot-water or heating... So switched the boiler off and went back to bed. Testing before I came to work, I noticed that the thermostat would fire...

    Long range Wirless CCTV Microwave?

You're being rather obtuse... I've said it will be powered by electricity, how specific do you want? 230v +/-10 @ 50hz? Are you trying to getting at EoP? - The power is delivered by a seperate consumer unit to where the feed is required so is a non-starter.

    Long range Wirless CCTV Microwave?

Electricity, unless that's a trick question? The reason it needs to be wireless is it will be crossing a carpark, and wireless is easier (and quicker) than hiring a breaker and digging a trench to run coax across it. Thanks for the cctvdirect link, but they only do 15m distance, and I...

    Long range Wirless CCTV Microwave?

Hi, I have used the search funtion... - But I'm struggling to find out about a decent camera to fit into our existing system. Basically we want to monitor a car park area out of view, and will require a camera and transmitter back to a reciever about 40m away. Any ideas or...

    Pinhole in cistern ceramic

After twice redoing the sealant on my cistern, I liberally coated all washers etc, and decided to test before refitting again. Whilst it was suspend in air I saw a drip appearing from the base of the cistern near the corner... Looks like there has been a pin hole in the base the hole...

Shower tray 10-15mm too small for ensuite..

Hi, Small issue with the new ensuite, the room width is 925mm wide without tiles. With tiles this will probably bring the width down to 910 mm, but still will be left with a 10mm gap between the tray and wall (as it was previously) with the 10-15mm 'Sealing Strip' that was used... Any...

    Incomplete solder join...

Sorry, should have clarified, 1mm around the circumference, on the T to a washbasin.... You're probably right its worth starting again as it's buggin me already! The other two are a work of art (IMO, if I do say so myself), but noticed this when cleaning the joint this morning... When it...

    Incomplete solder join...

Hi, Stupidly I used an old length of pipe to join to a new piece, using a solder ring coupling. Although I cleaned it, there was a slight bit of oxidation I couldn't remove which went slighly into the joint, but deepest half of the joint was clean... Anyway the expected happened and the...

How often should i need to re-pressurise a combo boiler?

Its also worth checking the actual radiator valves themselves. I had a couple of radiators where the top gland was leaking slightly, but then evaporating off before it could dripp to the floor.

    Preventing future leaks

Hi, As per previous posts, the old plumbing in my bathroom started to leak from a endfeed joint recently. I have had to rip out the new (2years old) bath to get to the leak to fix it... However there are a number of old endfeed joints of equal quality (large solder drips, flux still on...

Boiler stays on, when no demand (all valves working) ??

Ah makes sense now. Is there anyway to test for a stuck micro switch or bypass? I would gather its the remainging CH zone valve as the other one has been replaced recently.

Boiler stays on, when no demand (all valves working) ??

Thanks for the responses guys, I've looked through the previous responses and nothing quite matched what I was seeing. - the boiler is unmarked.... A barratts cheapy one I expect (its not condensing). I'll take the cover off later and find out. Theres two seperate zone vales valves (2 port)...

Boiler stays on, when no demand (all valves working) ??

Bit of a strange one, but the bolier stays on, and only switches itself off when the water reaches temp. I even went as far to take the valve motors off and check they work, (which they do). Every combination works the valves (including room thermostat), Very confused, can't work out why...
