Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Just to wrap this up. Came to do it and as I was sat in front of it identifying the wires, noticed a lot of corrosion at the bottom. It's leaking a bit so will get someone out to advise on its replacement. Sad times.

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Double checked, seems I was wrong about the year it was built despite being 2007 on the paperwork, looking at sold dates on land registry they were old sold Sept 2006 onwards. Boiler is a Glowworm Micron 30Ff so not condensing, perhaps Persimmon had some dodgy paperwork going on. I'll keep it...

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Sounds like I'm mistaken then and the boiler probably is condensing, it just generally works so clearly not paid much attention to it. Still think the rads are generally undersized though. Managed to get down to about 10,000 KWh of gas, only charging the store when needed should being that...

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Indeed, hence my desire to get it done now winter is coming. My experience based on lots of experimenting is that charging the store only when needed is much more efficient than leaving it to its own devices. Combined with running it off the "switch backup" when plunge pricing is in effect, I...

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Yes, I've seen that said so many times on here and elsewhere, but in reality in the 10 years I've lived here, it's given me precisely zero problems. Heating the store in the morning uses about 8-10 KWh of gas and provides showers for 3 people and enough general hot water for the rest of the...

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Thanks Ian. Over the past year I've done a lot of experiments, left to do it's own thing, it will burn through about 14KWh of gas. Run for a few hours in the morning it's more like 8. Have got gas usage down significantly this way. My plan is to put the hive into gravity mode which will turn...

    Capping pipe to shower

Thanks Terry. Good eye, just measured and it is indeed 15mm. Will have a look on screwfix and get a suitable stop end. Edit - all done thanks.

Hive heating & hot water to boilermate A class

Hi all. Fitted my hive a few years back, but only to the heating side of things. After a lot of testing, it's clear that the boilermate is more efficient when it is only heated when needed. Though the summer I set the timer for a couple of hours each morning and this leaves plenty of water for...

    Capping pipe to shower

I'm looking to get rid of a shower, redoing bathroom and decided it's no longer needed. Unfortunately when it was fitted about 5 years back, it looks like the guy that fitted it didn't bother to fit isolation valves so can anyone advise what I need to buy to cap this, unsure of the pipe size etc.

Hive to Worcester Green-Star 24Ri Issue

Finally managed to come back to this and trace it on the wiring diagram. The SL-W and SL-H connections are from the rocker switches via the clock. Having looked at the OPs pictures, his has the same connection too, just didn't spot it originally but his terminals are doubled up at the top and...

Hive to Worcester Green-Star 24Ri Issue

Sorry to hijack this thread, looking to do the same with mine. Bookmarked this thread a while back with the intent to do before my gas fix finishes as I'd like to use hive to control hot water demand as leaving the boilermate to it uses a lot more gas. Ive had my 2 channel hive for a few years...

Smart meter installer - install isolator too?

It's unlikely your new supplier will want to change it. The majority have agreed to wait until the SMETS1 meters are adopted by the DCC and become smart again, which for most of them should be at the end of this month.

    UCEM multipoint deadbolt stuck

Finally got round to thinking about sorting this but since posting about it about 5 neighbours have replaced their doors so figured I may as well join them as it's dropped on its hinges and is hard to open. New door has been ordered.

    UCEM multipoint deadbolt stuck

Thanks. Will try and take it off tomorrow and have a look. I think something has slipped out of alignment as the top one isn't coming out fully as well. Just annoying as it was fine until I started messing with it. Just worried I'll make it worse and end up with a door that won't lock at all...

    UCEM multipoint deadbolt stuck

Hi all. There been a few break-ins by us recently so i thought it would be a good idea to replace the budget cylinder in the door with a decent anti snap one. I removed it to measure, however in doing so, the bottom deadlock no longer seems to be operating. I'm hoping that it's just slipped...

    Dripping bath tap

Hi, Bit of a long shot but can anyone identify the tap in the attached picture so I can work out what valve I need to buy for it? The hot side is constantly dripping. Took off the bath panel expecting to find an isolating screw thingy but Persimmon were evidently too stingy to fit one when...

He will be should the FIA persue the matter further and ban him from being involved in motorsport, if that were to happen, he wouldn't meet the FA's definition of a fit and proper person.

    Virgin V+ Output to pvr

Depends on the PVR, if it's a Freeview PVR then undoubtably no as they don't have MPEG encoders in them, all they can do is record the MPEG stream as it's broadcast and decode it.
