Whirpool Fridge / Freezer, not cold enough

Sadly threw the towel in and ordered a new Siemens from John Lewis with a 5 year guarantee. Shame I have to pay for the old one to be taken away, it looks immaculate, though running a little less cool.

Whirpool Fridge / Freezer, not cold enough

I have a Whirpool ART 700/UK American style fridge freezer, which is a frost free appliance. It has been running fine for years, I had to replace the fan motor a few years ago and a couple of months ago I had to replace the compressor relay. It has run fine until this week, the point being it...

    Velux window fastening to MDF.

Tks, that helps!.... They have been fitted for 12 years. Real wood would be better, but is more of a job than required.

    Velux window fastening to MDF.

Apologies if I missed a thread, but nothing came up on a search. I have a few of those conservation Velux windows fitted, the ones with the brass thread running through a mounted base plate to open and close them. The metal base plate is sitting on what appears to be a base of 8mm MDF...

    Neff U1461 Oven element?

Thanks for the response. I removed the element, cleaned it up with a fine wire wool (it didn't need it) and checked the wiring, The wiring connections were tight, shiny and the insulation on the wiring appears to be in perfect condition without any splits or discolouration. The wiring...

    Neff U1461 Oven element?

My neff u1461 fan oven heats up, but keeps tripping the fuse. When I reset the fuse and oven clock, it starts heating again straight away until it trips again at a higher temperature a few minutes later, never immediately. If I set the oven to 200 degrees it gets there after tripping out...

    Prep for lining paper?

Hi, I have a section of painted interior wall that appeared to be slightly damp. The roof light has been repaired and the wall dried out and been patched with polycell plaster repair. I intend to cover the wall in lining paper before painting, to prep the wall, so far I have applied a...

leaking pipe under the floor boards.

Thanks for that suggestion, good idea with the camera...makes a lot of sense... I drilled a couple of holes in the ceiling as suggested no water came out and there is no bowing of the ceiling only slight discolouration, I think I caught it in time!

leaking pipe under the floor boards.

Thanks very much for the responses. Good to hear that a correctly fitted compression joint will be ok. The shower is fed by a 2.5 bar Aqualisa pump. The bath is a stand alone roll top on 4 iron feet, so no bath panel. The bathroom floor is fully tiled, with the correct water resistant rock...

leaking pipe under the floor boards.

I noticed a wet patch on my lounge ceiling indicating a leak from the bathroom upstairs. The bathroom is rarely used, perhaps once or twice a week and had not been used for 4 days when I noticed the leak (it's, ok there is another). By turning the water supply off overnight to stop...

    Ball valve type?

Water is coming out of the over flow from my cold water tank. I searched through the forum and established I need a type 2 ball valve with float arm. As it receives it's supply direct from the mains I assume I need a high pressure one,, could someone please confirm whether I need high or...

    Whirlpool fridge fan

Hi, I have a Whirlpool ATC700/UK 15003, american style fridge freezer. The fan has become noisy, there appears to be 6mm fore/aft movement in the shaft the fan spins from. Is this too much play?,,,can it be repaired or do I simply replace the fan motor as a unit? cheers

    Locating an underground water leak?

Tks for the responses guys. No problems with the water meter, in fact when I turn the stop cock off at the road, the meter runs backwards as the water flows back out of the system, which makes sense. That is exactly my dilemma,,,,,where to dig the holes....no evidence on grass or...

    Locating an underground water leak?

Just to add, there is a listing on the property, so the idea of going crazy with a kango or dynamite may not be on! I understand the building was converted and the supply pipe was likely laid in the early '70s. cheers.

    Locating an underground water leak?

I wonder if anyone can help with the process of tracing a leak. Living in the Th*m*s water area, it appears there is a noise of fast flow at stopcock outside the house boundary. The water meter is mounted above and after the internal stopcock and does not read out of the ordinary or move...

    Aqualisa Aquaforce shower pump problem.

I have an aqualisa aquaforce 2 twin outlet pump with 3 installed to run a shower. The pump and shower were installed in 2005, never given any problem, but are rarely used, perhaps 10 times a year. The pump is plumbed in to activate when the flow lever on the shower is activated...

    Re-circulation valve?

Thanks for the response and suggestions...I will propose these.....am I right in thinking that a recirculation rather than blow off valve is the usual fitment here? Cheers

    Re-circulation valve?

Basically I am wondering if a re circulation valve would cure this problem A little background... My neighbours live in a 3 story house with water tank in the basement, they recently had a plumber fit a pump as there was little flow at the top of the house. Now the problem is, the...
