    CCTV Advice

Hi all, Looking to install a new cctv system on a relatives house and would like some advice on whether to go ip or analog. We reckon we need 3 cameras, 1 wide angle and 2 available to zoom. I've seen some cameras that are vari focus, 2.8-12 are the fixed variety better? Initially thought...

Replacement bell box - not sounder

Preference of my old fella.. The bell round the back still works and amazingly battery still good on board. I remember arguing with him when we fitted it. He reckons bells carry better. House is in semi rural area. Thanks

Replacement bell box - not sounder

Anyone know if it is possible to get hold of bell boxes with a bell in instead of a sounder? Searched hi & low on google, ebay etc. Old one has give up the ghost after nearly 30 years. Needs to work on an old Gardtec 816. Thanks

Help identify boss on hot water cylinder

Hi all, I've finally managed to fix the drain on the hot water cylinder so can crack on with the new flange for the shower pump. Had no luck undoing the immersion heater cap, as the copper started to twist even with heat so I think an essex is out of the question. The top compression nut...

    What's this pipe for?

Thanks for the info. Is the valve normally open or closed or something in between? Hard to tell with this one, all crud around it. The gate valve, not the motorised. Reason I ask as it's a candidate for being rerouted to make room for the pump and its feeds.

    What's this pipe for?

We have a conventional boiler with vented hot water cylinder and two tanks in the loft. All the electrical gubbins is honeywell as is the 3 position port. Trying to get my head round all the plumbing before I add a feed for the pumped shower and comparing to all the diagrams, I have an extra...

Hot water feed from cylinder for shower pump

Hi Thanks for info. Can see this turning in to a can of worms.. I've looked into an essex flange. Fairly sure the last time we tried to drain the system to replace a valve, the hot water cylinder drain didn't flow when opened. Interesting comment re the balancing of the valve.. I can take...

Hot water feed from cylinder for shower pump

Hi, Wondering if an extra flange is necessary for a shower pump? I've seen conflicting advice and some say a feed from somewhere below the vent tee would be ok. We're remodelling the bathroom and adding a shower mixer. Hot water is from a vented cylinder with a loft tank. Mains cold is good...

Curious - Scantronic 9450 - Relay and mini pcb

Not sure, he only had the pcb from it with a bit of wire from each terminal so he could tell the colour of the wire. Sounds plausible.. I had wondered about load had it been a bell. Thanks.

Curious - Scantronic 9450 - Relay and mini pcb

Hi all, Just helped a neighbour connect his new Reson8 sounder to an ancient looking scantronic 9450. His old bell box died after he jet washed the wall after some repointing! The old sounder was connected via a small strip of connector block, a relay and small pcb with a couple of...

    Recommend a new panel please

Ill have a look at the euromini, thanks. I've read a few other posts.. the Texecom stuff seems to get good reviews but not sure if you have to be trade to buy? As for the current panel, sorry should have been clearer. The led display is clear enough to read, it just displays unexpected stuff...

    Recommend a new panel please

Hi, In our new house we've inherited a Gardtec something or other, possibly a 370 from what I've researched but 1) it's crap; I dislike the two segment LED approach and 2) it's not working properly. It's displaying 'EN' and all sorts of other rubbish when trying to set it. I do have the...

    Worcester 28SiII CH problems

I've think I've got two unrelated problems with my 28SiII When the boiler has been used for a while, central heating or hot water, it appears to have problems restarting / firing. The pump is running, the fan starts and I can hear the ignition sparking but then it seems as if the gas valve...

Worcester Bosch 28CDI - Self filling?

WB 28CDi, wall mounted, new in Dec '99. The pressure on our WB 28CDI has, over the last few months, started to rise of its own accord. The filling key is not installed and the filling tap shut. The pressure sits at just under 3 bar with water dripping slowly from the pipe on the outside wall...
