Hi all,

Just helped a neighbour connect his new Reson8 sounder to an ancient looking scantronic 9450.

His old bell box died after he jet washed the wall after some repointing!

The old sounder was connected via a small strip of connector block, a relay and small pcb with a couple of capacitors on. Also, the hold +ve and -ve were taken from the backup battery in the panel, simply twisted round the terminals!

Cabling a bit of a mess, mix of gpo style solid core and multi strand alarm stuff.

New sounder, strobe etc all working ok, connected directly to the panel. Curious about the additional relay and pcb though?

Thanks

What was the old sounder ? Possible A it was high power ( more than 500ma) needing relay as old 9450 had polymer switch instead of fuse's ( they shut down )

Not sure, he only had the pcb from it with a bit of wire from each terminal so he could tell the colour of the wire.

Sounds plausible.. I had wondered about load had it been a bell. Thanks.
