What size backbox do I need?

I'm thinking of drilling through my external wall in downstairs living room, where my router is, to run a couple of cat6 cables up into the loft. On my internal wall, I'll fit a 2x RJ45 face plate but I'm unsure on the size of backbox I need. Thankfully, next to where I want to drill already...

Light switch bodge job help needed

Light switch is very flaky, and keeps coming away from the kitchen wall. Not good if you're about to try and sell a property. The 1-gang 35mm deep steel back box has its lugs broken off. Can't see how I could replace it as the gap in the tiles is too small. The left hand screw has a 40mm...

    Back box question

In our ensuite we have a dual fuel towel rail and recently the back box cover plate came away from the wall. Upon further inspection the back box is held on as per the diagram below: A plasterboard fixing (and screw) was holding the back box in place. In addition, the end of the fixing sticks...

    Loose backbox plug socket

Any idea how I could get the backbox to stay level? The left side is hitting a piece of stud wall the problem is the right side keeps pushing back, so everytime we use the socket it's coming loose.

Is it possible to buy a metal 1 gang back box that has a center punch out at the top rather than left and right punch outs? I already have these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/appleby-galvanised-steel-knockout-box-1g-35mm/52143 However the existing conduit in the wall is center aligned to the...

Should outer shield of T&E enter back box?

Hi, I was replacing a faceplate earlier which was quite difficult due to the fact that there were three 2.5mm T&E cables entering the back box. All three cables had the outer shielding into the box but with no grommet on the access hole in the back box due to their being no room to fit one. I...

Oh Dear, Z-Wave fibaro module requires box depth not less than 60mm!

Below is my latest edition to my Automated world, a Fibaro FGS-223 module what controls the upstairs hallway light and the light in the spare room next door to the switch. Cables are: feed in, light 1, light 2, 2-way switch downstairs, and switch in adjacent room. Bit tight in there... 2 by...
