Just been to Ford because I want a 2nd key for my Connect van. They want £120!

Any other way of doing it?

local key cutting shop coded and cut me a spare for a mercedes vito £45.

you might be able to buy the key on ebay, bear in mind you might have a pats chip in it,this will no doubt have to be programed to your vechile, thats the reason ford charge a bloody lot for a simply job, timpsons cut my key ford galaxy for about 8 quid, try them.

yeah it was timpsons that cut mine! i couldnt remember their name earlier.

anyway they have one of those gadgets which they insert your chipped key into and then make a copy.

just had one for a renault trafic that was £160
but was done free through my insurance and is only the spare second key
so i didn't mind. or i wouldn't of bothered.

£100+ is common for replacing keys from main dealers.

IN a Ford, if you replace a worn key, you can get a simple one cut from a local place & take the old module out of the old key & glue it into the new one.

Paid £65 at a local locksmiths for my new second key.

Now to book in with Ford on their special offer: MOT and service for £99 (cheaper than the key lol!

I have thought more about this key business and it does not seem so bad if one considers it as a "security feature".
