I've got a tap on order. Hansgrohe, with 3/8" tails. Very long tails which aren't easily changeable. To connect up I think I will need a 1/2" female to 3/8" male adaptor. One of these:

Adaptor

So they exist, and are available, by post, on the interwebs. But none of the usual outlets seem to advertise them as being in stock. I'm in a big city (Leeds), we've got Screwfix, Toolstation, Wolsley, etc. I'd like to be able to pick a couple up locally.

There are plenty of the opposite, 3/8" female to 1/2" male.

Am I missing something? Would this not be a really really standard thing for anybody fitting european taps to British plumbing? Am I searching using the wrong terms?

This is the normal solution, can you make them work? https://www.toolstation.com/tap-tail-adaptors/p63663

Also available in compression.
Thanks (again!). I appreciate your help. Yes, I've seen those, which is why I was asking about their solderability (what do you mean, spellchecker, that's not a word!?)

But for my own slightly OCD reasons I was hoping for an alternative. It's also partly due to not being sure of the length of the tails until the tap actually gets here. The drawing says 900 mm - so very long. But as usual it's best to have the thing in my hands, so I can see whether I'll make the connections inside or underneath the cabinet.

They will get you to 15mm, easy then to connect to the pipework with a few different options, like into isolation valves for the taps.
