Hi,
We have an internal wall that is made up of plastered brick work for the bottom 3 feet and the rest is wood framed glass panelling up to ceiling. We want to remove the glass panelling and just have a plastered solid wall. We've been given different advice from different trades people and I wondered whether someone could shed some light on the best approach we should take.

The following solutions have been suggested:
  1. We remove the glass panelling and then add a stud wall on top of the remaining brick work, plaster board and skim to ensure match with existing plaster work on the bottom.
  2. Take down whole wall i.e. glass panelling and brickwork and put in stud wall then plaster etc...
  3. Remove existing plaster from bottom of wall, remove glass panelling and brick up to ceiling, then replaster whole wall.
What would be the best solution to ensure the best final finish? have added an image of wall

Don’t forget to consider soundproofing.
Just making a partition with minimal insulation will bite you in the arse

Thanks,
If the wall was half brick and half stud, wouldn't the plaster be likely to crack where the stud joined the brick?
