Hi,

I am retiling an old shower and have a 1" gap betwen tray and walls. What is the best way to fill this prior to tiling? Tried readymix tile adhesive but shrinks/will not dry.

Also am I better bedding 1" horizontal tile strip in silicone rather than tile adhesive.

You advice would be much appreciated

Ladling tub readymix adhesive is completely the wrong way to do it; it won’t work, it absorbs water & is just asking for problems. Is the 1 inch gap all around, on 2 opposing walls, one wall?

What are the existing shower walls made of?

The gap is on 2 opposing side walls which are made of aquapanel(cement shower board ) and then have a thin layer of tiles on top. I am planning to retile on top of existing tiles but cannot easily reline as shower space is already very limited
