my meter is soon to be moved approx 9 metres from my consumer unit, so I have purchased a 100amp isolator which I presume I am correct in saying must be sited within 3 metres of the meter for the tails to go into then my consumer unit is fed from that?

My main question is........ the 100amp isolator box is an eyesore and I dont really have anywhere out of the way within 3 mtr of the meter. Could this switch sit outside in a waterproof box, the i run my cable from the switch to my consumer unit. Also what size cable would I run from the switch to the consumer unit?

Many thanks

Ahhhh now thats more sensible!! I didnt think the electric company (EDF Energy) would allow me to do that. So I would be ok then to site this big 100amp switched fuse inside the meter cupboard next to there little digital meter thats there?

some DNOs are a bit picky about what goes in their cabinets. might be best to ask them first. But I have seen plenty of pictures of isolators inside DNO cabinets.
