We have 6 12v mr16 downlighters in the kitchen that have been fine for last three years since we moved into the house but in the last 3 weeks have started to go off for short periods (anything from a few seconds to five minutes or so) and then only occasionally. The lights are operated by a dimmer switch. From what I can see the lights are connected to Osram Haltronic HTM 70 Mouse transformers and all the wiring seems to be sound (ie no obvious loose cables) although I can't get the transformers out to check totally. I have checked the dimmer switch and all seems well (no loose wires, no indication of overheating etc). I have also reseated all the lamps just in case.
It appears to me as if the transformers are tripping and resetting. What is baffling as there are six separate transformers is why they are all going out if that is the case.
Any advice or suggestions as to likely problem greatly appreciated
