Hi there,
Before I get the electrician round to do it - can someone tell me if it's possible to spur off an existing 12v supply (for a heating thermostat) to provide an additional 12v supply for an alarm keypad that I'd like to sit alongside it?
See pic attached.
I guess he'll need to do a little horizontal chase in the wall - but is it feasible to have a spur/connection behind there?
Hope someone can advise.
Many thanks.

Provided only that the 12V supply is suitable and adequate to service all the connected devices, I see no reason why you can't have as many devices as you like powered by a single 12V source, whether one calls it "spurring" or anything else.

Thanks for that John; and yes, "spurring" probably not the right word!
Not sure if there is a back box behind the thermostat for the connections, but will let the electrician sort all that out.

Nest 12 volt supply, also has the information on same supply, the first time I found it was ASii with PLC control, up to 31 units could talk to the main PLC each with 4 in and outputs all from same 24 volt supply. So it depends if the 12 volt is just that, or if it has extra info superimposed on it.

Also, of course the total power for the devices needs to be less than the power supply can deliver.

True, but even if the OP's alarm keypad used the power supply cable for data transfer, I doubt that would stop either that or the thermostat working satisfactorily if they were both powered by the same supply.

Indeed - as you will have seen, I've already made that point - but, again, very much doubt that there would be any problem.

Are you sure it has a 12V supply?
The image you've posted, appears to show a Heatmiser neoStat WiFi Carbon; a model that also comes in a 230V version...

Have you investigated the wiring behind the neoStat?
