Hi,
I am building an extension and ready to go through the old external cavity wall. The wall has a small window where we have to go through, unfortunately there is a current lintel of 140 mm that is 60 mm too low, if we use a 65 mm standard lintel this would leave 75 mm either side of where the new lintel will be supported. A normal brick is of course 75 mm also meaning no room for mortar, is there a better way of filling the support gap from the new lintel to the pad supports, would making the supports lower by grinding a brick back be acceptable?
I will get a photo online, the wall to the right will be being removed, this I am hoping will make it easier to slide out the old lintel!
Thanks in advance
