Now I know many of you hate Downlights but I think they would look great in our low ceiling.

I was thinking of putting in various zone lighting within the room but my biggest problem is the overload on the circuit.

So my option could be these lamps I've seen in the TLC brochure.

Megaman
GU10 Compact Reflector Lamps

Now being 9watts I assume then the total watts will be 144watts instead of 800watts if I used the standard 240v 50w GU10s.

I know they are a bit pricey but it will be a lot less on energy bills etc.

Has anyone had any experience of these and could I simply have these wired in to the existing circuit therefore eleiminating the need to put in another lighting circuit?

You would be best wiring a new circuit just for that room.

If you sold, and someone put 50W back in, there would be a problem.

Thanks - thought that might be best!

I have no plans to extend the house further so 1mm cable would be ok as total would be just 800watts on this circuit?

Or, to be on the safe side and if anyone in the future wants to add an outside light for example - it may be best to use 1.5mm?

what would be best?
