Before I had my house re-wired I would use a caravan/camping extension lead from my house and into the garage to charge up my electric forklift, however now I can't have it on for more than 5 mins and then it keeps tripping...can I simply change the fuse for a higher amp breaker? or is it not that straightforward?

Regards

Not quite that simple, but likely a way around the problem, but more info needed, however likely all in the installation certificate issued when rewired.

Size of cable feeding garage, the size of MCB that trips, etc.

Also details of charger may help.

Forklifts tend to use stage chargers, the idea is fast charge to 80% then much slower, it is possible that in the past you have not discharged the fork lift enough for it to stay in first stage long enough to trip the power, but I remember hiring forklifts and the charger needed at 63 amp supply, we complained and it was replaced with one needing a 32 amp supply so there may be a way to get the charger to use less power.
