1897 house, opening up fireplace - Is this asbestos board?

    Found some white 20mm paper backed board with what looks like coarse hairs embedded through it.

    This was hiding behind a plasterboard wall covering a fireplace which we've been opening up today.

    I know i'd have to get it tested to be certain but wanted to know if anyone could give their opinion. There's no sparkly bits in it that i can see, just these small coarse hairs and small off-white lumps.

    I'd get it checked out for sure Jon. It's impossible to say whether it is asbestos or not just by looking at your pics.
