19 year old Ravenheat combi boiler

Hi, i have an old Ravenheat combi boiler that is around 19 years old (not sure of the model number). When i went to bed last night the heating was on but when i woke this morning the radiators were cooling down and are now stone cold. I checked the pilot light and it was on but the boiler was not firing up the way it normally would and there was no obvious signs or sound of water flowing. I also checked the water pressure and that seems to be fine now i am completely stumped as to what the problem could be.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and /or if it is an easy fix or not??? Any info would be gratefully appreciated

Funny but what isn't funny is having no heating in -15 temps and not being able to fix it

I'm affraid there's no where near enough information to give you any real advice, you could check the pressure maybe? Is is aproximatly 1bar?

This is probably an old 20/20, you're doing well to have had 19 years out of it! I made the mistake of trying to repair one not long ago and it was a nightmare! Must have spent 6hrs infront of it... replace the pcb then replaced the faulty NEW pcb, new aps, both sets of microswitches, multiple leaks too arghh!

If you can afford a new one go for it. If not, and you can't find anyone to take a look for you maybe try the British Gas fixed price repair for about £170 I think.

Interesting how the idea of calling a heating engineer is not on the list of suggestions. But they do have to make a living and so do have to charge for their time.

that ravenheat is most likely an example of the long tail theory

it goes then even poor boilers will last a last time. ie most ideal isar will of kicked the bucket in 10 years but some will get 15 and even fewer to 20...etc
