2.4 metre transition strip

Hi,

I need to put in an aluminium transition strip between a 15mm Natura Maple engineered floor and a carpet. This sounds easy except for the fact that I need it to be 2.4m long and the longest one I can find (Tops tiles) is 1.8m meaning I will have to butt join the ends of two strips to cover the distance.

Is there a technique to this as it worries me that in time the ends may separate and leave a sharp metal corner to trip over. Or does anyone know where I can get a longer transition strip, as I can’t be the only person to have had this problem.

Carpetright do 0.9 and 2.4m lengths of various transition strips - but usually in brass or aluminium.
