Did you think it should be "nucular""? If so, you're in good company - see here .

It derives from the word "nucleus" (that wot gets split in a reactor) - so it's fairly logical that it should be "nuclear".

I think there are such signs/plaques all over the place! There is certainly one similar to what you describe on the wall of the BT Centre in London. I've also come across ones in Wales and the West Country. I think they are commemorating all sorts of different interpretations/versions of "birthplace of radio"!

Yeah, the local one around here is that he made the first transmission over open sea, from Lavernock Point on the Welsh side to Brean Down on the English side. It was all progress by increments really, rather than one big huge breakthrough.

No,never heard of nucular, i was just associating nuclear with "radiation" and messed all our brains up, thats why there all a bit dizzy roundhere

Oh, I see I thought you were commenting about our spelling of nuclear (or whatever). not that the radiation may have messed up people's spelling in general!! I think that Bradwell closed down around 2000, anyway (albeit Sizewell is not very far from Essex!!)!

The OP has not stated they wanted to use flex ?

I know that you would always use the flat type for your ring main and the round for an applicance

There's always the possibility that some such uses are ironic.

For example, having heard it used my someone she knew, Mrs Sheds & I now often (usually?) refer to the well known Swedish purveyor of self-assembly furniture as "eye-eek-ah". AFAICT, most people mispronounce "Ikea" anyway. Just like they do "Siemens"

And having overheard it used (not humorously) in a supermarket, "sundrid tomatoes" i.e. as in "sundries".

Then there's the jolly old A406, aka the North Circlear.
