2 Gang 1 Way Light switch arcing and burning

Lights are conventional filament at the moment but will change to LED later.

Stripping with steam so yes suspect

Will add pigtail from wall box to switch once I find a shop open today that has them in stock.

Ok found a switch if someone could help me understand how to wire it I’d be grateful.

One circuit for ceiling light one circuit for wall lights.

I suppose I’ve got to find the corresponding pairs red and black with red sleeve.

Com and L1 on each switch. L2 is not used. Earth must be connected to the brass terminal on the side.
All good worked perfectly, thank you very much although I wasn’t able to get the same kind of light switch I used the plastic white two gang to way until I can get the right style

Probably not available on your South Seas Island, but - in the UK - you can get plastic plate securing screws. You cannot rely on the screws to adequately earth the front plate.
Since JohnD is in the Cook Islands, he has access to Australian/New Zealand Switches and Socket-Outlets - and related products.

The fully insulated Face-Plates and screws of these devices do not require Earthing and there is no Earth connection possible,
except to the Earth Pin of the Socket-Outlets.
(Even metal "Cover-Plates" are just that, Cover-Plates - which clip over the insulated plastic Face-Plate, requiring no Earth connection.)

(Because no Earth is needed at Light Switches, Two-Core cable [without an Earth conductor] is available - with distinctive colours - so that it is not necessary to re-designate a Blue [or Black] conductor as a Switched-Line.
While such re-designation is allowed - by the Regulations - it is strongly discouraged in Technical Training Schools!)

The Australian/NZ regulations (since the 1930s) have required that the fixing screws be
deep-set (so that they cannot be contacted by a "standard test finger")
and (also)
covered.

In the past, this covering was a "Screw Cap", inserted into the hole and covering the head of the screw.
(Unfortunately, these Screw-Caps were often not replaced, after they had been removed - for any reason,)

Since about 2000, wall plates with clip-on cover-plates have been available.
Hence, no screw is seen or is accessible (using a screw driver), without removing the cover-plate.

I know that, was just asking if a 2 gang 1 way even existed.
Sold in my MS Mobile repair shop, ElectriStar 2 gang 1 way light switch (Tried to post a photo but wouldn't work).
