I fitted an electric shower the other day in a block of flats (10th floor).
As usual i came off the mains(at least me and customer thought this)
Pressure seemed fine...installed shower, low pressure reading.
After a bit of problem solving, it turns out the flats have 2 mains coming into them, 1 specifically for electric showers, anybody come across this one before?

it was coming up kev from the ground, but after i collared the flats maintenance dept, it turns out the whole block had 1 big tank on roof between them all, as this blokes was on top floor it wasnt good enough....
on a bit of a different note, the whole block of flats had no gas supply to it at all

seems to be the case in most flats, i think me grandad called it the down service or something similar, for baths, hot water ect and the actual mains is just used for kitchen tap

One tall block in Maida Vale has "mains" water coming from the roof tank. Every 4 floors down it has a pressure reducing valve to keep the pressure at about 1 bar.

Problem was that on the top floor the pressure was 0.3 bar and hardly enough to operate the combi boiler.

Just to complicate matters the stupid kitchen installer has put a cupboard around the boiler so I cannot remove the flow restrictor.
