2 pipes sticking out of the ground

Hi,
In my back yard (new house just bought 3 month ago) there are 2 pipes sticking out from the ground about 8 feet appart.
See picture.

If it helps: the house is all concrete block exterior and interior walls, with no basement, build arround 1940.

Before I dig, does anybody know what they are? oil tank, sewage, etc.?

They do look like oil filler / ventilator caps to me.....usually they unscrew so you can have a sniff.

Thank you, you might be right, this site was a train depot back in the 1930's...
