we all need to start somewere 
oh plumbing.
when get up in the loft and have a look at that float valve.
how far up the vertical pipe from the cylinder is that shower hot feed connected ?

from the top of the cylider the first tee is about 350mm.
have you a pic ?

have you asked your tradesman? they dont`t bite.!
as for the banging noise/vibration, sounds like water hammer. is there a tpiece at the cold water inlet or a bend? should be t`eed to give you an air break. as for shower problems refer to previous posters
