2 way and 3 way retractive switches

Hi I’m trying to find out the operational differences between the 2 way and 3 way retractive switches on pages 16 & 23 the terminals on the back are the same as far as I can tell in the photos

I think it's the page number shown in the document viewer, not the printed page no.

Do you mean 2 and 3 way , or 2 and 3 position. I can only see the latter.

The 2 position switches are biased one way, so that there is always one terminal connected to Common. The 3 position switches are biased to center-off, used e.g. for motorised blinds, cinema screens etc.

Hi thanks it’s the 2 way and 3way retractive switches I have a couple of the 3 way ones atm connected to electronic dimmers ( Shelly dimmer 2) and wondered what the difference was in the 2 way one if they both have 3 terminals on the back

I can't see any 3-way retractive switches, only three position - ie biased to centre off.
two position switches are biased to one side on.

I think this is another "mutation" of terminology.

Electrically it is 2 way (L1 and L2 ) while mechanically it is 3 way. The third mechanical way being neither of the two electrical ways.

Yes that sounds like it 2way and centre off I found it described elsewhere

looks like same switch but 3 way has the centre off button so click up or down it returns to centre, and the 2 way looks like it returns with the top after pushed in. If I’m correct or then again not lol

You're probably correct, but that does not alter the fact that, electrically speaking, the so called "3-way" one is still really only "2-way, centre off".

It is, but I was quoting ('in quotes' ) what the OP had written ...

.... looks like same switch but 3 way has the centre off button ....
