would i be right in thinking 20 mbar is 0.002 bar? so less than 1psi?

mbar is short for: milli-bar.

Why on earth would you want to know?

Unless the reason is something purely theoretical, my strong advice would be: think again.

i just seen most boilers seem to accept gas at 20mbar and was just curious what pressure that was. i guess the pressure before the metter is alot higher otherwise they would have massive pressure drop over long pipe runs.

yes the supply is 75mbar on most, there has been a move towards medium pressure of 2 bar planned for the past 5 years but not sure if it has actually happened anywhere yet

There's quite a few medium pressure installations round this way. Means the gas network can use smaller pipework into the estates.

Note that you can always use the amazing Google unit converter for this sort of stuff, so stick "20mb in psi" into a Google search and you get the correct answer back.

Does all sorts of unit conversion including all sorts of esoteric ones like "2 furlongs in metres" or "3 light years in parsecs"

There is also a full calculator and currency converter in there as well so "50GBP in USD" works as expected, and (1+sqrt(5))/2 all do the right thing :-)

bog off pal the currency calc don't work

Obviously you need to take the quotes off but it does work. It's bank rates so not what you or I will get though. However it is worked out on an up to date rate.

Its unable to tell me the value of my 50,000,000 Zimbabwean dollar note though!

I heard that Mugabe had asked for all the banknotes back as he wanted to sell them for their scrap paper value.
