Hi all,

Recently purchased some 195mm 25mm to 7mm feather edge to horizontally clad an out building. I am finding conflicting overlap requirements.....I would have thought 25mm would be sufficient but some are saying 50mm.

Does anyone experienced in this have an overlap recommendation?

I built a new shed wall out of feather edge boarding and fixed it by nailing about 1/2" up from the bottom edge. this would give two nails per board. I have recently re-visited the subject of shed building and have discovered that one is meant to only use one nail , so the individual boards can shrink and expand. Does not answer your question, but I can only say do some research on wood working forums. like :- http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/calculating-feather-edge-t29839.html

Thanks for that link, thats one of the places I found the increased overlap information. In only a week my boards have shurnk about 10mm so in hindsight I should have overlapped at 1.5" (38mm). I have only placed one nail in each board so no splitting.
