Hi all.

I'm repairing some rotted out sub floor chipboard. The property was built in 1989 and I'm a bit surprised that it isn't 18 or 22mm.

So two things. Anyone got any ideas about where to get 20mm, or if I replace it with 18mm where would I get 2mm packing to lay along the joists?

Cheers

are you sure it hasn't swollen a little bit around the main damage area
as in still damp but not collapsed

Hi big-all.

No defo not swollen, as have cut back all the way beyond where there was any water damage.

I've seen references to 20mm loft flooring (but can't find a stockist), and this would make some sense, as it is not the finished floor surface but is a sub-floor level that sits on the joists, then there are 2" straps with sound insulation, then the finished 18mm T&G timber floor boards.

i know chipboard aint the greatest, but at the right thickness, and kept dry, it does the job.

The point is, this chipboard is at a sub floor level.

So,,,,,,, anybody know where I can get some, or some 2mm strapping?

google 2mm spacers or packers
with a thousand pin them end to end

or rip some down on a table saw
