Here's a question from my exam today.
Two cooking appliances can run off the one switch providing that
a.They are no further than 2m from switch
b.They are no further than 4m from switch
c.They are both earthed to main board
d.they both have they're on fuse.
Could anyone give me the answer to this one please

a applies, but d also does to an extent.

Both appliances should be adequately protected by fuses or MCBs, either at circuit source or locally.

The control switch must be within 2m of any appliance and in the case of two appliances within 2m of either one.
 
To answer your last question. Get yourself a copy of the Electricians guide to the building regulations: ISBN 978-086341-463.

It is around 20 quid. For your answer look on P51. section 4.4 Cooker circuits in household or similar premises.

If you are doing 2330 it really puts the flesh on the bones. The 2330 course can be a bit too much theory and not enough practical
