25" Sony TV

Please help, I have a 4 year old sony tv. Until a week ago when I turn it on using the remote control, its turn itself off instanly. Sometime I turn the remote control over 10 times to switch on the TV. But sometime it does not work. What cause the TV turns itself off.

Need more info... Does it always turn on correctly using the button on the TV? If so, is there a way to put it on standby using the button on the TV, and see if it will come back from standby that way (sometimes by pressing the on off button softly, at a point where it doesn't quite click)? Have you tried this if so?

Does the picture appear to go 'upwards' before it turns off automatically?

Using the button on TV to switch on is often work, without using the remote control to switch it off first before turning off the TV button. If using the remote control to turn it off first, then turn it back on again (tv button) it does not work.
Picture does not go upward when switching off.

Have you tried replacing batteries in the remote? Dying batteries can cause problems with the signal it sends to the TV.

Sounds like a dry joint. Does it get any better or worse if you give it knock?
