Hi all,

I have a Greenstar Junior 28i combi boiler, recently the pressure has dropped to 0, there are not any leaks anywhere in the house. When i turn the valves to top up the pressure it barely reaches 0.5 bar and all the water goes though the overflow, as soon as i turn off the valves it drops back to 0.
The boiler will only light when i leave the valves on but this losses alot of water, as soon as i turn the valve off the light goes out.

Any ideas?

The pressure relief valve has failed or is jammed open some how. Has anyone been working on it recently?

This is usually a boiler-off-the-wall job to replace. A simple part but Worcester put it in a very awkward place to discourage people using it as a drain off.

Hi Andy,
The condense pipe was frozen a few days ago which we managed to unfreeze, since then theres been a drip coming from the overflow for the past few days. But today the pressure has just gone.

Sounds like its failed to me.

can this be fixed easily as i have a friend which at the moment who is away for christmas that fits boilers for British gas. But i would like to get the part in for him, so im not without heating for weeks.

Thanks

I don't think the frozen condensate pipe problem will have had anything to do with the loss of system pressure, just a coincidence.

Whoever changes the part will need to be an RGI as the boiler will need removing from the wall.

i may be able to shed light on this as i have seen it many times!

When the condense freezes and backs up the boiler vibrates and bangs causing the prv to unseat itself dropping all the pressure.

Get your hand betweem the dhw pipe and return and gently turn the prv head up and down. It will snap back into place. Your PRV will not need changing. Do the above will take you a minute.

I've done this on about 10 worcester boilers recently worked every time!

If you have big hands you may have to move the dhw pipe out of the way!

Thank you, just got in from the parents.
Took me less then 10seconds to do
Boiler is back on I can now sleep with the rads on.

Thank you
