Hi I just wanted to check if this would be ok :?:

What I wanted to do was put in a 2ft Tube in the cupboard under the stairs, which would be running off a FCU with a 3 amp fuse in.

The way I was going to do it was:

To have a surface mounted unswitched FCU running as a spur from the socket in the dinning room (which is on the other side of the wall, of the cupboard), by using a piece of 2.5mm T+E, going from the back of the socket through a hole in the wall and into the back of the FCU.

Then to run to length of 1.5mm T+E from the FCU to a 20amp 4 terminal JB.

Then I was going to run a length of 1.5mm T+E from the JB, to a surface mounted 1 Gang Light Switch.

Then I was going to run another length of 1.5mm T+E from the JB, to the 2ft Tube.

And I was going to put a 3amp fuse in the FCU, and clip up all of the cables using 1.5mm Tower Clips.

So would this be ok :?:

as its in a cupboard, maybe u can minimise work and "cost" by using a switched fused unit as the actual light switch ? just connect light to load side of FCU ... removes need for another switch, extra cable and joint boxes

everything else sounds ok though

Sounds OK to me, the cables should maybe be run in trunking.

It's going to be in the cupboard under the stairs, so I was just going to Clip it up with Tower Clips, as it will not be seen so much.

The trunking will protect the cable from being damaged by something accidentally falling against it, are you using this area as a storage area?

Yes, but I was going to have the cables clipped up against the doorframe.

If they are in an area where they are not going to get hit by anything then they will be OK clipped direct, I don't know if the side of a door frame will give adequate protection tbh.

They shouldn't get hit by anything thing, as all that's going to be stored under the stairs is my mum's craft things, which will be in boxes on shelves on the wall & on shelf units standing on the floor (which will also be fixed to the wall for safety).

Here are the pictures of how I did the light in the cupboard under the stairs

The FCU is Spured off from a dining room socket, which is on the other side of the wall to which the FCU is fixed to.

The FCU has a 3A Fuse in it.

i agree with Jim2287, doing as he suggested would have been a much neater job.

I didn't do it that way because, there was a big hole in the wall which was going to the top of the backbox of the dining room socket, (which was already there), so I put the FCU where it is to hide the hole.

in that case you could have run a 1mm cable from the fcu to the switch then the light, and it would have still looked neater
