We are replacing an old broken light switch cover. It has two switches on it and one of the switches is a two way switch the other is a one way switch. (2 way for the landing light and 1 way for the bathroom light). The old switch has two holes at the top on both sides and two holes at the bottom on both sides. On the 2 way side there is a red wire going into 1 hole at the top and a black wire going into the other hole at the top and there is another black wire going into one of the holes at the bottom. The new cover has only 1 hole at the top on both sides, so where does the black wire that is at the top go now ?

if you look carefully you will see that the switch is marked as

C

L1 L2

OR

C

one way two way

The new switch is "upside down" from the old one (normal these days)

so acording to what you have said, you should put the black in the c terminal which is now at the top, where as it was on the bottom

so you should end up with a blck in L1 a red in L2 and a black in C
