3 cables - 2 gang switch... URGENT HELP REQUIRED

hi,

I was in the process of replacing a switch when after distraction I didnt make note of what wires went where.

OK.
the switch(es) control the hallway downstairs and landing lights.
Downstairs (the one being replaced) has 2 rocker switches - one for hall and the other for landing. There is a seperate landing switch upstairs.

I have 3 cables
1 x red, black and green/yellow
2 x red, green/yellow

all green/yellows are connected to earthing point in socket.

I also have a strap of red wire which connected across 2 terminals within socket.

I have no clue of what goes where to new socket although I have limited success through trial and error. The best being all lights working but cannot turn landing light of from upstairs switch.

Please help me with my incompetance.

whats the wiring in the upstairs switch like?

i suspect you have a setup somewhat like

but either the live and switched live from downstairs or the switch strappers are run with a pair of single red and earth cables rather than a single run of T&E

thanks..... still somewhat confused looking at diagram.
Perhaps it needs to be spelt out to me.

Switch upstairs has has 2 cables.

1 x red, green/yellow. red connected to COM
1 x black, red. connected to L1 L2

In the downstairs switch where does the red wire strap connect between?

connect the com terminals on the two switches together with the loose wire you have

connect the red and black to L1 and L2 of one switch (it doesn't matter which way round)

the two single reds need to go to com and L1 on the other switch. If you get them the wrong way round the upstairs light will only work when the downstairs light is on.
