Just replaced an existing 3 gang 2 way switch , like for like with the old one but the switches are no on when should be off, don't have enough wire to simply turn the actual switch upside down. Am in right in thinking I can simply connect my switched lives to the L2 connections instead of the current L1 ones? Can't think of any other reason why they'd have the L1 and L2's

Isolators normally down is off, so anything falling on it will turn it off, switches traditionally down is on, but modern smart switches, often you simply push them, so there is no up or down.
