Hello all, i wonder if anyone point me in the right direction in locating the 3 way port valve on my central heating system. The reason i am asking is because i am unable to get hot water without turning on the central heating, so you can imagine i'm sweating buckets. I currently live in a bellway house that was built in 1978 with the same boiler sysyem installed (Thorn Olympic). I have looked around the hot storage tank in the airing cupboard, in the loft and next to the water pump in the kitchen. Any idea where it could be?

Cheers for reading

could be the fact you dont have one. and you have gravity primarys to the cylinder and pumped CH.

That could be true. One thing I forgot to mention was that the smaller of the two water tanks in the loft ran dry. This was because the ball cock stuck and didn't refill the tank. Could it be that i now have air in the system? If so how can I get rid of the air?

Cheers

now were getting to the problem. sounds like an air lock in the primarys to the cylinder.you could try turning all rads off with the ch on to force a circulation round the cylinder circuit.plus you wouldnt be as warm  just use the wheel hed valve on each rad or trv if there that updated.

What happened to the people who were capable of analysing heating system problems and coming to a rational conclusion? Have they all been replaced by people who just make inane guesses?

sorry whats your contribution to this post.besides being a ****.
