Hi all

I am looking for a 3D design program so that I can visualise my DIY project ideas in 3D on my computer before actually taking the plunge and doing them!

Can anyone recommend any software packages? I'd be very grateful if anyone would post their thoughts on what is good/bad about any particular program and an approximate cost.

Thanks and kind regards

Jon

Hi boxst

Thanks very much for the post. I downloaded the trial version of Floorplan 3D and it seems pretty good. I am yoying with the idea of buying the full vesion, but willhave a look at Archicad first.

Tried a number of those types of application. Never that pleased with any - make sure you try before you buy.

Maybe it's just me, but I always seem to go back to paper, pencil, scissors, etc..

A useful tool, often used in architectural sketches etc. (relatively easy using pencil paper etc)... Parallel or one point perspective ... Can be to scale.

The vanishing point (where all parallel lines, along line of sight, appear to converge ) would be on the 'eye line' shown 'in' the window, the 'ground line' most likely at the base of the 'windowed' wall where it meets the floor.
There is much more to this .. worth investigation for the amature designer.
