I was test fitting the personnel door in my workshop extension today and there is a 40mm gap that needs to be filled between the top of the frame and the lintel. I’m thinking I could either raise the door on something or fill the gap at the top.
Do lintels come in 40mm? What else could I use to fill this gap and secure the frame?

Thanks in advance.

I was wondering about a bit of timber up top as there will be no weight on it, and then just expanding gapfill the remaining gap if there is any.

Expanding foam, then rake out the front inch and point it with mortar? Admittedly I’ve never done that, but it’ll definitely stick like s*** to the frame and lintel, and given you can plaster over it, you may get away with pointing over it.

Sorry, just seen you said 40mm, which makes my suggestion silly if it wasn’t already. Yeah go with timber.

Whatever you like above the frame, but you will need a cover strip (architrave) to cover this and overlap the frame.

Frames are not fixed via the head, only the jambs.
