so......out of curiosity, how did "stones" come about to being a measure of weight? first time I heard it mentioned, I thought it was slang.....apparently there's a way to calculate it into pounds.....which led me to question why I cant get the "pound" sign to come up unless I switch to UK keys which messes up the dollar sign....

You could generate the pound sign using ALT-0163.

A "stone" (of 14 pounds in weight) was so named, AFAIK, because a specific stone was originally used as a reference for trading commodities.

as far as the other goes....there are 43,560 square feet in one acre and 3 feet equals 1 yard...you'll have to do the math....
