I had some old floplast PVC waste pipes laying around - they are about 42/43mm. I am on screwfix/wickes, and all I can seem find is 40mm pvc waste pipes. Have 42-43mm waste pipes been phased out or something ? I ended up buying some, and rest assured they were off by 2-3mm and don't fit any of the corner joints I have laying around.

Push fit and solvent weld are different sizes. You can only use push fit pipe with push fit fittings, or solvent weld pipe with solvent weld fittings

ABS solvent weld plastic has an OD of 43mm - usually compatible with PVC as both can be glued though PVC does come in imperial and metric sizes - PP push fit plastic has an OD of 40mm. ABS and PP - for some reason - are both called 40mm or 11/2"

PVC waste pipe sizes are rarely used in domestic waste situations and more normally used in commercial/industrial settings due to their resilience but that usually comes at a cost.
