Hi all,

I have a 50mm (well, 2" OD) pipe/tube from a tank that I need to fit a ball valve to. Water temperature will be 80degC.

I see Plasson fittings are commonly used for this from my research but they're definately not rated for hot water, although no-one I know who's used them has had problems.

Should I be worried?

I've personally used plasson fittings for that application in a different area for five years and not had a problem.

This isn't a domestic or industrial water system by the way, although the water needs to be potable.

Cheers,

TS

Interesting question is this for a custard or personal where it won't matter if someone gets seriously burnt.

What is the pipe matterial, 50mm I assume it must be some type of PE.

Pipe material is stainless.

Custard?!?!

I'm wondering if I can use a 54mm brass compression fitting but not sure if the olive will compress down enough.

Thread or weld the pipe would be the correct way.
