Hi all i new on here so be GENTAL please

I have a movano which has loss of power/poor acceleration

It will still do 70mph but takes time getting there

On the M/way if i hit a hill speed reduces to 50-60 even with pedal on the floor

After having a quick look i found

EGR Valve has been removed and cleaned ( oil and Gunk )

Air pipe from Turbo has oil in it

Outlet pipe from intercooler has oil in it

Can anyone confirm my suspicion of a faulty turbo???????

No smoke on start up
No smoke on acceleration
No over running

Any help would be greatfull

Thanks Phil

Hi Phil
You can expect to find some residual oil in all of the turbo / intercooler pipes - even on a recent engine its normal. This is due to slight leakage through the turbo oil seals ( the bearings float on a layer of oil, so on start up they can have quite a bit of play in them). Oil mist is a factor too, and this comes via breathers from the crankcase.
If your turbo had failed, the smoke screen would be intensive and the exhaust pipe would have oil in it - the engine may even rev on its own.
However, we don't know if the turbo is boosting enough, and thats best checked by a diesel specialist. Other common issues are the EGR valve and the air mass meter - just upstream from the air filter.

Hi john thanks for the quick reply

there does seem to be quite a bit of oil in the intercooler pipe

but no over reving of running on

There is also oil leakage from the top of the engine (front) above the EGR housing
Could it be a blocked breather or boost pipe from the turbo????

Its worth giving the area a good clean and seeing if all pipes are secure but I'd suspect a cam cover / rocker gasket issue really.
