Hi again guys so just some advice again
got a old 60a supply coming into the property looking at getting dno involved to move the meter from the internal wall to external cupboard and would look to upgrade to 100a from 60a

i presume it would be the dno that moves the mains incoming cable into the new box would they also move the meter and upgrade the fuse or would this then fall to the supplier ?

also once the new meter and fuse was in the box , at the moment the fuse board is right next to it but when its moved to outside we want the the board moved around 10 meters away from the meter what mm cable would be used for this ?

In the run from the 100a isolater to the 100a rcd in the consumer

many thanks again

Why do you think you need 100A ?

To achieve the incoming head move you’ll need the DNO, the supplier you pay and a local competent spark on the same day

None of this is diyable

Thanks , ok so its not just dno job i presume it be
dno to move mains cable
Supplier to move meter and fuse
And local spark to run cable from mains fuse to board

So your looking at 3 costs then

Just though it was the done thing to upgrade to 100a of you was on 60

DNO moves cable and install main fuse
Supplier moves meter
Competent spark runs appropriate cables and OCPD to existing fuseboard

Why do you think you want to move it and why do you think you need 100A

I want it moved from the inside to the outside its in the living room and would just be better out the way

Thanks guys yeah i think it will be staying right where it is they have quoted £1100 to move it from the inside wall to the outside wall litrally say 12inch away
Thats with me doing all the digging fitting a duct and fitting the meter cupboard!! Litrally all they gonna do is chop the cable put a joint on put abit of new cable up and fit on the fuse head and move the meter surley not even half a days work... what a joke

Well, they do all of the work live. They dont turn off the substation and plunge most of your neighbours into darkness.
For safety there will be at least a two man gang. Connecting and splicing a live cable that can spit several hundred amps of molten metal at you, if you get it wrong, is very specialised work.

Not a joke - what on earth did you expect?

i expected a hell of alot cheaper but then in this day and age everyone wants top dollar for everything!! and the way they get it is by trying baffle the consumer into thinking what they are doing is so technical when really its not... if your read and learn from others as i have done from here and other places but some folk just like to say "" get the spark dont touch it""

Nobody in their right mind would move a service head, as you want it done

The DNO is a big company with big overheads

You have no idea, again. Try and post something that is something like reality.

There are 14 licensed Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) in Great Britain, each responsible for a specific geographical region.
These 14 regions are managed by six different operators.
